Black work tattoos started with ancient tribes in Polynesia and beyond. They symbolized status and identity. As they spread worldwide, they mixed with various cultures. This led to many styles we see today. Now, modern black work includes simple to complex patterns. It ranges from geometric designs to abstract art.
